I found a stack of discs I purchased a couple years ago which I have not listened to that much. Not because they are no good but because I was embarking at that time on a massive acquistion phase. And these discs were some of the very first to get buried under an unending deluge of weekly new arrivals.
Come up for air and all that.
I”m going to share them over the next few days in no particular order. The first is a sharp collection of elegant British pop music from the mastermind of The Housemartins and The Beautiful South, Paul Heaton. Joined by Jacqui Abbott, also of The Beautiful South, the pair put together a delightful smart set of English pop songs. Insightful but not overly clever in the vein of Joe Jackson. Crisp, jaunty music played by excellent instrumentalists produces an infectious sound full of hummable melodies.
A fantastic record that you’ll listen to again and again…often back to back.
